Michael Chang

Michael Chang is Vice President of Energy and Sustainability at Host Hotels & Resorts, an S&P 500 company and the largest lodging REIT, and one of the largest owners of luxury and upper-upscale hotels. As head of ESG, he leads efforts in sustainable finance, climate resilience, resource management, green building certifications, and supply chain innovation, and ensures Host’s ESG leadership by managing key disclosures and maintaining strong performance in investor rankings and frameworks.

He holds leadership positions on sustainability committees at the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (Nareit). Previously, Michael was a leader in Deloitte Consulting’s sustainability practice, advising Fortune 500 companies on integrating sustainability into their business strategies.

Michael has also served as a mentor with AALEAD, demonstrating his commitment to supporting AAPI youth and nurturing future leaders. Originally from NYC and Texas, he has lived in Washington, DC, for over 15 years. He earned an MA in International Energy Management and Policy from Columbia University and a BA in Economics from New York University.
