After-School Programming

Our after-school programs provide academic development support and enrichment activities to promote leadership, identity development, mental health, and equity to middle and high school-aged students in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

What We Believe

Asian American LEAD believes in the power and potential of our young people. We aim to provide youth with a wide range of opportunities to help them reach their fullest potential. This means providing youth with consistent support and robust resources so that they can develop into confident, engaged leaders. We have seen our youth grow in their voices—to the point that they play a significant role in shaping their own programming.

Washington, DC

Washington, DC is the nation’s capital with a wide range of racial and ethnic demographics, including nearly 30,000 Asian Americans. In DC, we serve youth in 6th to 12th grade through our DC Middle & High School Programs twice a week through a community-based model.

Maryland

Montgomery County, MD is one of the most populous counties in Maryland. It is home to 161,300 Asian Americans. In Maryland, we serve middle and high school youth weekly for after-school programs at Montgomery County middle and high schools.

Virginia

Fairfax County, VA is one of the largest jurisdictions in the Commonwealth of Virginia, particularly with a high and growing population of Asian Americans. The Virginia Program began in 2019 and launched through the success of the Mentoring Program. Our VA programs serve youth weekly through after-school programs across middle and high schools in Fairfax County.
