MD region IGNITES with a Fire & Ice Movie Social!

This past Friday, youth from AALEAD After School programs across the Maryland region joined us in our office to participate in a fun and relaxing movie social. By hosting community events for AALEAD youth outside of after-school programs, we strive to give youth additional space and opportunities to create a sense of belonging and feel connected with each other. This week, AALEAD youth in Fairfax County learned about Hashtag Activism, a form of Digital Organizing. In programs, AALEAD youth learned about hashtag activism’s pros and cons and even created their own hashtag movements.

A Day of Service and Mentoring

On Saturday February 16, 2019, youth from across AALEAD’s programs in the DC area convened at Martha’s Table at the Commons to partake in community service projects, share how mentoring has impacted their lives, and honor the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement in the Asian American community.
