Happy Volunteer Month!

By Olivia Lancaster, Mentoring Program Intern

The month of April is National Volunteer Month, which gives us an opportunity to honor and celebrate our amazing volunteers here at AALEAD!

What are some of the ways volunteers help out with AALEAD programs?

In our afterschool and summer programs, program aides provide support to our coordinators in various tasks, like helping with projects to facilitating fun and engaging activities with large groups of youth.

In our mentoring program, all of our mentors are volunteers too! When they are paired with a youth, they provide them with a positive role model for at least one year. They work with their mentee to develop academic, social, and life skills, guiding them to grow and gain self-confidence.

AALEAD also has volunteers that help with varied tasks translations, whether it be for our newsletters or when speaking with parents, ensuring that EVERYONE can participate in AALEAD without worry about language barriers. They also help us do outreach, which is how we get youth in AALEAD!

Our volunteers are extremely important to the overall success of AALEAD, and we could not be more grateful for their time and work!

Thank you to our volunteers, and thank you to ALL volunteers!
