Fatima Bouzid

Fatima Bouzid is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where she made her mark both on and off the volleyball court. As a dedicated athlete, she excelled as a member of the DIII volleyball team. Beyond sports, Fatima’s commitment to fostering a vibrant campus community led her to become actively involved in various clubs and organizations. She served as a Head Mentor for the DeSousa-Brent Scholars Program, demonstrating her passion for supporting fellow students on all corners of the campus. Additionally, Fatima held key roles such as Secretary for Student Government and Student Trustee.

Her academic journey at St. Mary’s College culminated in the achievement of a Bachelor’s degree in International Public Policy & International Language and Culture with a focus on Chinese. This multidisciplinary approach reflects her keen interest in global affairs and cultural diversity.

Driven by her love for working with students, Fatima embarked on a fulfilling year-long journey with AmeriCorps, concluding her service in June 2023 as a Literacy Tutor. In this role, she dedicated her time and expertise to empower elementary school children to meet their reading requirements, leaving a lasting impact on their educational journeys.

Fatima’s passion for education and mentorship continues to evolve as she eagerly transitions to a new role, where she will be working with Middle School students in Maryland. Her commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young learners remains unwavering.

Embracing her unique cultural heritage as an Algerian Chinese mix, Fatima looks forward to the opportunity to connect with AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) youth and hear their diverse stories. In her free time, you can often find Fatima indulging in her favorite pastimes, whether it’s playing volleyball, immersing herself in a good book, or enjoying the company of her two beloved cats, Mimi and Fifi.

Fatima’s journey is a testament to her dedication to education, community, and the celebration of cultural diversity, and she is excited to continue making a positive impact on the lives of those she encounters.
